I am joining Edelman !

This post is probably my biggest announcement since the begining of my blog ! I am more than happy to share the news with you this morning: I am joining Edelman Paris as Director of Online Communications.

I am leaving my entrepreneur's life to join the only independent global PR firm, counting 1900 employees in 43 countries worldwide and 272 M$ in 2005...

Well, I have to say I am very enthousiastic and also excited to join such a famous brand and by the way one of the first to have very seriously consider the blogosphere, which is not so usual for a PR firm... Studies conducted with Intellisseek and Blogpulse, global survey to identifye bloggers profile with Technorati, launch of Richard Edelman's blog one year ago, and Phil Gomes the first PR blogger in the world, it seems like I won't be lost there... ;o)

So yes, for all those reasons, the first positive business experience I shared with the team here in Paris, the potential of development and the kind of companies Edelman is working with, the way they've asked me to join and leave my own consultancy: I come ! And yes, I leave my entrepreneur's freedom !

To terminate this post, I'd like to say a special "thank you" to someone who had a strong influence in my blogger life and who has some "responsibilities" in this story happening now, and who probably will in the futur again...;o)

So sorry again, it' s just a question of being absolutely slamed those days but still a very bad excuse...

So stay tune, I am about to make a big announcement here on monday, many things will be clarify then. ;o)

Track conversations in real time !

It seems like Intelliseek / Blogpulse's technical team is working on providing a tool enabling real time conversation tracking, not few hours or even several minutes later as traditional search blogs engine already do, but effectively in "real time".

Have a look on this post referring to the Rosa L.Park buzz story following her death, including a video of the tool and it's powerfull real time tracking feature. Terrific !

Thanks Stanislas for letting me know !

A quick jump in the Vlogosphere

While working on the finale constitution of the Vlog/Photoblog/podcast panel for Les Blogs 2, I am checking some links that Gabe kindly sent me to help me identifying interesting stuff in the Vlog world, and I have to say I've been really impressed by some of them.

The first one I'd like to share with you is Travelvlog by Graham Walker, including short films about his travel in Tibet. Host on blogger, this is a very good exemple of what one can do thanks to vlogging in a grassroots journalim approach.

You should also visit Gabe's vlog featuring a weekly show about the last news in the videoblog world.

iTunes 6 and the new iPod are now available

Apple released iTunes 6 with several terrific new features. Music Videos is one but also very interesting the ability to buy and send music as gift or to post personal reviews and ratings. I wonder how many video clips are available right now, the list I saw today was already quite impressive...

Apple offers a specific entry for Pixar's films and I couldn't resist jumping through this open gate to get "For the birds", a short film that made me laugh as never the first time I saw it few years ago... I fully recommend to invest the 2,49 EUR required to get it !

Image 6

With the new iPod also released those last days (who did get a Nano....?), Apple is now inviting us to "Watch your music" as the campaign says. Who could have imagine that we would once write such things and more over that it will make any sense...?!? Nothing else than Apple's genius ! That's terrific marcom !
The advert is really a success too. Well, I wonder what might be Apple's next step on the big consumer market...

Do you know blooks ?

A blook is a printed and bound book, based on a blog.

Most famous ones are from 'Salam Pax: The Clandestine Diary of an Ordinary Iraqi' (Grove Press), the eye-witness accounts of the Iraq war by the blogger known as Salam Pax, 'Small Pieces Loosely Joined' (Perseus Books), Dan Gillmor's "We The Media" (O'Reilly), David Weinberger's spiritual interpretation of the Internet, actor Wil Wheaton's memoir 'Just a Geek' (O'Reilly), and Jessica Cutler's 'The Washingtonienne' (Hyperion), a novel based on her scandalous blog of the same name. More scandalous still is 'Belle de Jour: The Intimate Adventures Of A London Call Girl, by Anon' (Phoenix), which started life as an infamous blog, describing the life of a north London prostitute, and read by 15,000 a day.

Image 4

It seems like more than 100 blooks have been published till now, there is now also "The Blooker Prize" that has been launched on the 10th of October 2005, the world's first literary prize for blooks, organized by Lulu, a website that enables anyone to publish and sell their own book. (well, yes, that's linked...)

The prize will reward blooks in three categories: Fiction, Non-Fiction and Comic-Blooks, it is open to blooks published anywhere by anyone, provided they are in English (Loïc, you should translate your blook in english to compete against Scoble's and Shell's one !)

Judges will be: Cory Doctorow, co-editor of BoingBoing, Robin Miller, editor-in-chief of Slashdot and Paul Jones, director of iBiblio.

The Lulu Blooker Prize will take place annually. The short list of books for the inaugural prize will be announced in March 2006 and the winner on 3 April, 2006.

Know what, there is an additional step: Flooks ! Film based on blooks ! ;o)

Google Reader has been launched

Image 2

Google just launched it's RSS reader at the Web 2.0 conference, Google Reader, that you can use if you have a Google account. I've just try it, although I don't fancy online RSS readers, seems that it has some original features: you can upload your subscription list from other readers, mail or blog items you're reading with a click, play your podcasts with a built-in player ...
You can also classify your feeds by "label" or star your favorites. I am going to give it a deeper try in the next days...

Leaving for Bruxelles' conf on Blogging

Very excited to meet belgium bloggers there !

Is Steve Jobs playing with the cell phone industry ?

iPod+iTunes+phone

If you're interested by this question, you should have a look at Bill Palmer's last piece on Ipod Garage, he's got a terrific vision of what's happening up there...

It would seem that there just can't be a method to all this sadness regarding the iTunes phone, this Motorola / Cingular / Apple three-headed monster of a phone of whose head Apple is seemingly attached by a lone tendon. Did things go horribly wrong between Apple and Motorola behind the scenes? Has Apple been trying to make this project fail from the start? Or did Steve Jobs sit this one out and put the whole cell phone "vision thing" in the hands of the Dell Dude?

More than 65 comments at that time, jump in !

Thanks Teebo for the link.

New Blogs & Social Networks conference

Image 2

I just received this morning an invitation to this conference organized by the Strategic Research Institute, Beyond blogs and Social Networks, that will be handle in Jersey City, December 1-2. Lot's of stars will be speaking there, Steve Rubel, Michael Wing, Vice President Strategic Communication at IBM, Pete Blackshaw, CMO at Intelliseek, Scott Rafer, till recently CEO of Feedster and now Chairman of Wireless Ink, Dana VanDen Heuvel from Pheedo, and of course, David Teten, organizer of the conf.
I've been in touch with David several times at the time we've launched our conference in Paris, and also as David joined the CEO Bloggers' club, few weeks ago.
Unfortunately, it wouldn't be possible for me to attend the conf as it is just few days prior to ours, but I wish you a great success David !

Several of those brands/speakers will be also presenting at our event co-produced with Loïc Le Meur, VP Ex. Europe at Six Apart, Les Blogs 2.0 in Paris on the 5th & 6th december, seems like there will be two major conf in early december ! ;o)
